A group of women volunteers from the Ezeagu constituency expressed their gratitude to Hon Chima Obieze at his Akama Oghe residence in Ezeagu LGA, who helped secure permanent teaching positions for them after they had selflessly volunteered their services. Their story sheds light on the challenges faced by qualified teachers who had been providing their expertise without formal employment.

A few years ago, while driving out of his office, Hon Obieze encountered a group of approximately 30 women who waved down his car. Intrigued, he stopped to listen to their story and discovered that they were teachers from his Ezeagu constituency who had been offering their services without being officially employed. These dedicated individuals had volunteered in various schools within Ezeagu, demonstrating their commitment to education despite not receiving any compensation.

Upon hearing their plight, Hon Chima Obieze canceled his engagements for the day to advocate on their behalf. He promptly proceeded to the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB) office, where he sought the assistance of the former chairman, Chief Ikeje Asogwa. Through their collaboration and Chief Asogwa's dynamic and pragmatic approach, all the volunteer teachers were absorbed into the system as permanent teachers within one week.

Recently, a few of the formerly volunteer teachers decided to express their appreciation by paying Hon Obieze a visit. They conveyed their heartfelt gratitude and offered prayers as a token of their thanks. Their visit exemplified the profound impact that acts of kindness and support can have on individuals and communities.

Hon Obieze shared his sentiments about the experience, stating, "There's a special feeling that comes from helping people when you can." He acknowledged the importance of recognizing the contributions of dedicated individuals who selflessly offer their services without formal employment. By facilitating the transition of these volunteer teachers into permanent positions, Hon Obieze and Chief Asogwa aimed to ensure that their commitment to education was duly recognized and rewarded.

The story of these women volunteers from the Ezeagu constituency serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by qualified teachers who may find themselves in similar situations. Their dedication and willingness to contribute to the education system despite the lack of official employment highlights the importance of valuing and supporting educators at all levels.

As the community continues to prioritize education and the well-being of its teachers, it is crucial to recognize and appreciate those who go above and beyond their call of duty. Acts of kindness and advocacy, such as the one demonstrated by Obieze and Chief Asogwa, can make a significant difference in the lives of individuals and contribute to the overall development of the education sector.
