REMINISCENCES OF BUHARI's ADMINISTRATION: NOTHING TO BE DESIRED

The memory of Buhari's tenure as the president of Nigeria is horrific. It left nothing to be desired. He, in short, spearheaded the worst reign of terror in the history of Nigeria. It was a sordid times and its memories are recounted with cold shivers across boarders and lengths of the country, and the masses, who gave him power, are far from recuperating from the ravages and woes of his draconian high-handedness.

Buhari ruled the nation with iron fist, and it consequentially brought the The Giant of Africa to a state of prehistoric backwardness where the metric of success is measured in how well one loots the nation's treasury and thrive on the ruins of the masses. Everybody is crying foul in Nigeria, the only persons who are not crying foul currently in the country are those who are spearheading the organized destruction of the affairs of the rest of us in the name of leadership, aside these persons, the rest of us are crying foul and are on a life support. 

"What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.” those were the wisdom of Nelson Mandela. Similarly, in his book titled: "My Transition Hour" President Goodluck Jonathan in coincidental affirmation wrote: "the key to immortality is living a life that is worth-living after which generations unborn keep your memories going". Certainly, memories of the durations of President Buhari, just like any other, shall be continually recounted whether distasteful or otherwise from generations to generations till end of time.

What shall be recalled of his period in power then becomes the question? Will it be reminiscences of good memories and satisfactoriness, or of regrets and God forbids? Surely, different people have different experiences and memories to share about the erstwhile government of the former President. But if you ask me, I will tell anyone who wishes to hear an honest recount of his administration to look at the way his government treated a common man and not his fellow elites. The way his administration made it almost impossible for the common man to succeed through honest means through his devastating economic policies and profligacy. How he treated Nigerian public academic institutions with so much neglects that eventually reduced them to disaster zones and intellectual cemeteries where dreams of youngs boys and girls are murdered with recurrent ASUU strikes, failed policies and moribund learning facilities. The way his administration discharged its primary responsibilities of security of lives and property with undisguised disdain, and watched with eloquent silence as bandits, Fulani herdsmen, ISWAP, ISIS kill Nigerians unprovoked and unchallenged at discretions. The way his government accumulated humongous debts without remarkable achievements or output. The habitual manner in which he flouted court orders and negated Federal Character principles such that it heightened secessionists agitations across regions in the country. 

Nigeria became a paradox of affluence and extreme hardships under Buhari, the giant cobbler whose children walked bearfooted, and Nigerians live in avoidable abject economic bankruptcy and conflicting value systems.
