Just In: Enugu State- Ezeagu Legislators Suspends Council Leader
Ezeagu LG Councilors |
The Ezeagu Legislative Assembly has suspended until further notice the leader of the Council, Hon. Sunday Agu, and four other councillors.
The deputy leader of the council, Hon.Okafor Obidimma Stephen, announced the suspension after their sitting session on tuesday at the council Complex, Aguobu-owa, Ezeagu LG, Enugu State while addressing the press.
During the sitting, the suspension followed the resolution by the other fifteen councilors who are in the majority that the leader had breached the code of Conduct and constitution of Enugu state lawmakers.
The Councilors also agreed by resolution that the sitting allowances of the suspended lawmakers will be withheld.
He then warned that any attempt to open the legislative chamber on any other date for legislative business apart from 15th December which is the slated date for next sitting , will be treated as a criminal offence.
According to one of the councilor who chose to be anonymous to our reporter, he stated that the suspended leader and other four councilors walked out of the council hall today without any provocation and that caused the resolution took by the other members around.
“ ...we adjourned to today being 25th October,2022 for our sitting. we were seated for our sitting but our leader walked out from us without any reason and conducting the sitting. we were all surprised and begged him to conduct the sitting which he refused.
Our code of conduct and constitution allows the Deputy leader to take over in the absence of the leader, so our Deputy presided over the sitting and the motion for suspension was moved and supported by all with the resolution that the suspended leader and his colleagues who walked out will not be paid any allowance and suspended till further notice."
