Enugu State government embarks on sensitization awareness to promote the value of education in Schools

As part of mandate to encourage children to embrace education and shun social vices. Enugu state government organized a sensitization programme for children of practicing primary school, Emene in the state.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement as the children filled the school arena to witness the occasion.

Addressing the children, Coordinator, Public enlightenment unit, office of the Governor, Government House Enugu, Mr Tochukwu Ezeh advised them to focus on education inorder to build a strong foundation for better future. 

Describing anti-social behaviours and social vices as the obstacle to achieving their dreams. Mr Ezeh urged the children to embrace discipline and hardwork to attract the rewards of a peaceful and successful life.

"From the Governor of Enugu state, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi ugwuanyi who has made sure that this environment is conducive for you to learn and become great leaders of tomorrow, Because everyone of you desire to be great leaders tomorrow. So we want to enlighten you on the need for quality education. All these you want to become, You cannot achieve that with only wishes, you have to put extra effort to succeed. It involves envisioning what you want to become."

“If you want to become a medical doctor and others, you need to study your books very well, you need to be diligent with your studies. We thank God that Our Governor has provided you with quality teachers that will imbibe the necessary knowledge and impact you positively, such that when you enter secondary school , you must have laid a solid foundation to Excell and walk through the path of your destiny.  

“ So whenever you come to school, make sure you pay attention to your teachers, feel free to ask questions and understand your lessons. The teachers are here to make sure the right knowledge is given to you. If you become a doctor tomorrow, it is for your own benefit first before the society. Don’t believe people that tell you that education is scam. Education is very important and for any Nation to develop, that Nation must invest heavily in education. Because the problems happening in Nigeria today, is as a result of poor education. So many people don’t value education any more, but the truth is you cannot become anything meaningful without education.

“ We need you to be responsible citizens tomorrow because if we don’t achieve that, it will turn back to haunt us in future, And we don’t want that. We have had enough of these social vices. We want to put and end to it by making deliberate effort to sensitize you and make sure you follow the right steps. So don’t waste the opportunity that God has given to you. Stay focused and study, respect your teachers, respect your parents, So that they will not waste their Time, Energy and money on training you in vain. Make sure you become trusted and reliable citizens of Nigeria, So that Wẹ will be proud of you“

While expressing gratitude to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for bringing the valuable Human development awareness to the school. Head Mistress of Practicing primary school, Emene, Mrs Edith Nwafia tasked the children to obey rules and regulations and take advantage of the sensitization to change their attitude and build good character to avoid falling victim to crime and social vices.

You are the one to decide what you will be in future and it depends on the effort you make on your education from childhood. That is why we believe in catch them young for a better tomorrow”

The sensitization programme featured the sharing of essential education materials like Books, pens and other children’s gifts.

The jubilant children expressed their gratitude with songs as they promised to seek education and shun crime inorder to build their life, family as well as contribute in development of society.

In her vote of thanks , A teacher in Practicing primary school Emene, Mrs Priscilla Onwumere commended Enugu State government for the initiative and promised to intensify effort to guide the children in becoming responsible and productive citizens of tomorrow.

The sensitization to shape the attitudes of children to positively appreciate the value of education and save the young ones from social vices for a peaceful and happy society is expected to cover various schools across communities in Enugu state.
