Tanzagreen Nigeria Ambassador storms UNN as Pen-Power, Advocate, others hosts a Campus Clean-up Campaign

CAMPUS CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN 

Plastic by far is one of the best gifts of mankind, but with all good things, plastic is one of the best ways to doom if

handled without care and used to pollute the environment.

Plastic pollution is one of the biggest problems facing our planet today due to this carelessness and it is very unfortunate that tons and tons of plastics litter our environment daily, some of which end up in the ocean where they cause harm to

the marine ecosystem and is either mistaken for food by larger marine animals such as whales, fish and birds, or continues to float in the water, creating a watery plastic soup.

It is for this reason that the Tanzagreen Initiative (TAGRIN), a Non Governmental Organization that operates within and outside Tanzania, armed itself with the task of raising awareness to the society on issues related to environment and the responsibility of the society to conserve them for the betterments of the present and future.

One of the ways to conserve the environment is through constant clean-up exercises to reduce the plastics that litter our environment on daily basis. And in a bid to continually save our environment from litters and hazard, the newly appointed TAGRIN Nigeria Ambassador, Alhassan Mohammed led a massive CAMPUS CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN within the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU Zaria, on the 28th of August, 2021 where he organized young students on campus for thorough cleaning up of the university environment, shutting ABU Zaria down with the clear message that cleanliness is the hallmark of standard.

And as though other universities have been patiently waiting for news about the ABU Zaria's massive Clean-up exercise, the University of Nigeria Nsukka joined the queue and hosted one of the biggest humanitarian events the university has ever experienced since inception in 1960, pulling hundreds of students who willingly came to keep the university environment clean while supporting the TAGRIN Initiative in their quest for a better environment for everyone.

The presence of the Tanzagreen Nigeria Ambassador, Amb. Alhassan Mohammed, in the University added vibrance and colour to the event as the Special guest engaged the students specially on the need for environmental clean up, telling them more about the Tanzagreen Initiative, and admonishing the students to keep faith with such initiatives while keeping the environment clean. 

The University of Nigeria Nsukka Clean Up event, remains one of the stories that will be very difficult to erase from the memories of students, especially those who participated and was gifted an international certificate of participation signed by Mr. NASRY ALLY MWANGU, the Executive Director of  Tanzagreen Initiative himself.

The extraordinary event which started few minutes after 8'Oclock in the morning had students keeping the University of Nigeria Nsukka environment clean while dancing to the beat of the songs played to keep the clean up lively. Starting from the School of General Studies building, to Department of Economics, Public Administration and Local Government, Library and Information Science, down to the University's Library, the Faculty of Arts Hall, the obviously grateful students picked and kept their surroundings clean.

The organizers of the event in the University, Hon. Aneke Cyriacus Saneke (Pen-Power), the Tanzagreen Nigeria Deputy Leader who also doubles as the Special Assistant on Students Development to Udi Local Government Chairman, and the Tanzagreen Nigeria Head of Directors, Comr. Odom Joseph ADVOCATE left no stone unturned as they mobilized students beyond the expectations of many, with the exceptional assistance of their team of other excos who are special assistants and Directors to the Tanzagreen Nigeria Ambassador.
