The Youths Will Not Be Deceived Again by Political Elites ~ Hon. Offiah Kingsley Ndubuisi

Any politicians planning to use the youths as usual in this coming election must have a second thought because the Youth are wiser now than ever!

The Chairman of Ohanaeze Youth Council Enugu State, Hon Offiah Kingsley Ndubuisi today while speaking with some council of elders in the State assured the youths that power must change hands come 2023, stressing that it is not going to be business as usual. He acknowledged the fact that the youths have come to understand that this country and its governance structures belong to them and therefore should no longer be seen, used or addressed as a complementary organ of both politics and governance at all levels in this country.

In his words, “we are the one that wear the shoe and should therefore know where it pinches us. The youths have been indispensable to the political journey and democratic gains of this fourth republic but sadly, youth appointments and involvements after each election had been treated with contempt portraying a scenario that the youths are available tools for achieving political gains. This time around, we shall vehemently reject any politician with know clear agenda for youth engagement, empowerment and participation in governance. We have, in countless times proved our powers to total mobilisation and mass actions. The #EndSars protest is handy example and we can only but do far more than that.

He went further to cautioned that any further attempts or plans to use and dump the youth this time is dead in arrival, thus advising the political gladiators who are the major culprits to understand that times and circumstances have changed, the youths are overtly conscious and will not only demand for their rightful positions in politics and democratic processes but will also challenge and protect them. The orientation is no more the same.

It is sad to realise that the gladiators who have so refused to accommodate the youths all joined politics in their 20’s and early 30’s but has undermined the efforts of the present youths to lean on their shoulders to take the mantle of leadership. 

For decades, we continue to hear that the youths are the leaders of tomorrow, yet the gladiators have refused to neither relinquish power and leadership to the youth nor to concede some parts of it. The youths all over the world are the most energetic and therefore the custodians of actual governance while the elderly are senior citizens and elder statesmen who make up the senior advisory council.

Enough is therefore enough! It is youth o clock! The youths must therefore be given the revered prospects to invest their youthful energy and readiness to take over from the President and rule this country. Nigerian youths make enviable waves across the world but supressed at home, this anomaly will no longer be tolerated.

Any member of Ohanaeze Youth Council who is not ready to run for an elective position should have a second thought of their membership as we have pledged with our last resources, to support any youth irrespective of the political party, to achieve their dreams. As they say that politics is a game of numbers, we have the numbers, we have the energy, we have the ability.

We can no longer be used; we want to use our numbers and abilities to build the country of our dream.
