UDI LG MAYOR MEETS THE FAMILY OF THE INDIGENOUS PROTEST VICTIM ON A COMMISERATION VISIT
Following the shooting incident at Lagos State which claimed one of the well meaning sons of Udi, the Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Council Hon. Ifeanyi Pascal Agu, today visited the family of the deceased at their hometown in Amofiabuzor Amokwe Udi to commiserate with them.
Arriving at his hometown, the Executive Chairman of Udi Local Government Council in the company of the Council's stakeholders and Executives, Legislators, registered his sadness over the demise of the promising young man who unfortunately was a victim of fate and circumstance.
According to him, Mr. Ikechukwu Iloamauzor who died a hero belongs to the league of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Tafawa Balewa, Ken Saro Wiwa and other national heroes who are long gone after fighting for the country.
"There are no goodbyes for Ikechukwu as wherever he is, he will always be in our hearts. Those we love can never be more than a thought away, for as long as there is a memory, they live on in our hearts. And in our hearts, Ikechukwu will continue to live on’’.
He further assured the family that efforts are already being made and information dispatched to different sectors of Government to see that their son's death does not go without worthy mention and compensation, even though no compensation is worth the precious life that was lost.
The Chairman also assured them that the Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on whose behalf he has come will see to it that justice is done to the course for which their son died.
The Leader of the Legislature, the Education Supervisor and some other stakeholders put in their different words of commiseration and encouragement to the family after which the Chairman handed them an envelope as a little token from a compassionate heart.
With evident pain in his voice, the People-First Mayor assured the grieving mother that the story does not just end here, as we would unite again with Ikechukwu eventually in the afterlife where we meet to part no more. Though her pain is intensified by the imagination and prolonged by a hundred echoes yet we trudge on with hopes of eternal reunion someday.
The thoughts of the Udi Local Government Council and the entire Udi is forever with the family of Mr. Ikechukwu Iloamauzor.
Hoping for God's intervention, we pray Him to heal our land.
