The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well in service to others.
Indeed, when Mahatma Gandhi said that the best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others, the Honorable member representing Enugu West in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Ogbuefi Esther, understood those words and eventually made efforts to put these words to reality by organizing a health safety outreach by initiating and implementing the movement that led to the sharing of over 3000 Facemasks to the different Local Governments in Enugu West which she is representing in the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Abuja.
The young lady, Hon Esther Ogbuefi Sharon, has indeed given all young leaders a BIG assignment by starting her 3-Day MaskUpEnuguWest campaign which was aimed at distributing over 3000 face masks to the people of the zone.
The young honorable, and her team which comprise her SAs and SSAs, kicked off the program at Afọ Iwollo -Oghe Market in Ezeagu Local Government Area on the 16th of July, 2020 in company of various Youth Leaders, who came to grace the occasion.
Hon Esther Ogbuefi, In her speech, stated that, the campaign became necessary because, of the need to support the efforts of the state government led by, Rt Hon Ifeanyichukwu Lawrence Ugwuanyi and also the Local Government Council Chairmen in the zone, in the fight against covid-19, by providing face masks to the indigent artizans; who are most vulnerable to the pandemic.
The campaign which intended touching all the 5 Local Government council in the zone started Afọ Iwollo -Oghe Market on the 16th of July, 2020, their kick-off day.
In the course of their humanitarian movement at Afọ Iwollo -Oghe Market, Ezeagu, they sensitized people on the ways to wear and remove their Facemasks without touching the inner part of the safety clothing. The indigens of Ezeagu Local Government were thrilled by the courage of this young leader who just finished her Youth Service. The elderly ones in the market couldn't help praying for her for the good service he did them.
On the second day of their #MaskUpEnuguWest movement, Hon. Ogbuefi Esther and her team visited Udi and Oji river Local Government where they sensitized as well as shared face masks again to the people in the different markets they visited.
On the 18th of July, they concluded their MaskUpEnuguWest program at Awgu and Aninri Local Government Areas. It was during their sensitization in one of the markets that an old woman who couldn't contain her excitement broke down in tearful prayer, asking God to bless the works of the good honorable and her team. According to her, the face mask was the very first thing she has gotten freely since the beginning of the lockdown as she couldn't join long queues during the time of sharing palliatives. This team, according to her, has brought a face mask right inside her small shop in the market, making sure she keeps safe this hard periodic of pandemic Covid-19.
Hon. Ogbuefi Esther and her team maintains they will stop at nothing in safeguarding the lives of the people under Enugu West Senatorial Zone during this trying time of Covid-19 challenges.
"As the book of Hebrews 13:16 didn't mince words in reminding Christians that such good deeds as these are pleasing to both God and man, the Nigerian Youth Parliament, Enugu West will not hesitate to help the good people of Enugu West any time in the future", she said.
Indeed, it not the little one has that counts, but what he is able to do what that little that matters.
Ogbuefi Esther has set a pace history will never forget
