JUST IN: Final Year Students To Resume On June 15

All final year students of educational and training institutions, which are

being managed by Ministries other than the Education Ministry, are to return to school on June 15 to complete their exit examinations.

President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana made this announcement for the reopening of schools for the final year students in his 10th address to the nation on Monday.

“After an engagement with the various teacher unions, government has decided to allow final-year students to go back to school to prepare for their final examinations.”

President Akufo-Addo said all other levels of education will remain closed to students while final year university students will resume classes on June 15 whiles Form 3 Senior High School students as well as Form 2 SHS students on Gold Track will reopen on June 22, 2020.

A week later, Form 3 Junior High School students will also return to school to prepare for their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

In total compliance of social distancing in schools, the President further directed JHS 3 classes to comprise a maximum of 30 students; SHS classes a maximum of 25 students, and University lectures will take place with half the class sizes.

He added that various educational facilities are to be fumigate and disinfect whiles each student, teacher, and non-teaching staff provided with re-usable face masks by the Ministry of Education.

However, on Tuesday, Education Minister, Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, also disclosed that finalists in Senior High Schools will sit for their final exams on August 3 after six weeks of studies.
