It was mere anarchy at Nkpor near Onitsha Anambra state, as two persons were allegedly shot dead by police patrol team enforcing lockdown order in the area.
Information gathered by Reports from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed revealed that the incident was caused by an unprovoked attack on Police patrol team with substance suspected to be acid by some miscreants even as he disclosed further that the errant youths tried to snatch some rifles from the police operatives.
The PPRO said efforts were ongoing to restore sanity in the area and that the commissioner of police CP John Abang has ordered a discreet investigation into the remote reason the protest took place in the first instance.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the total lockdown in Anambra state which continued this week recorded its first casualty as a protest led to the shooting of a young boy of 20 years right in front of new tyre market Nkpor near Onitsha at about 1:30pm.
From various account on social media platforms it is gathered that police shot sporadically and two persons lost their lives. While one died instantly, the other was rushed to the hospital but gave up the ghost before they got to the hospital.
As of the time of filing this Post, the Commissioner of police is yet to update a concrete Report of what transpired between his men and the irate youth.
