Breaking News: ASUU Strike: NANS Suspends Protest and Mass Action; Tells FG ,ASUU and ASUP to reopen All Campus Immediately

NANS President In the said Letter
dated January 8th, 2019 made It crystal Clear that they have Finally suspended the proposed mass Action, With the sole Reason to Enable both The FG , ASUU and ASUP to resolve and reopen all Campus Immediately.


Comr. Bamidele, Again in the letter Taunted ASUU for Not Considering the Interest of Nigerian Students in Their Mass Action while insisting that he will not be distracted By The Insults, Blackmails and Propaganda Poured out on Various Social Media against him and his Office by ASUU  and some Hardliners .

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT PRESS RELEASE January 8, 2019 
RE - FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, ASUU AND ASUP, REOPEN OUR CAMPUSES FOR ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES OR FACE MASS ACTION BY NIGERIAN STUDENTS
"You may recall that we issued A TWO WEEK ULTIMATUM on the 23rd December. 2018 to both the FG and our striking lecturers Sequel to this the Federal Government Invited the leadership of the National Association of the Nigerian Students to discuss the issues surrounding the lingering   industrial action on 3rd January. 2019 This interface was called at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFRN.
At the meeting. I took time to enumerate the challenges Facing  Nigerian students ranging from:
* Unstable academic calendar as a result at lncessant strikes by both Academic and Non-Academic Stall Unions.
* Political victimization 0f our members aaoss all campuses 'Poor Facilities and unconducive teaming environment 'Sheer neglect of the Education sector by governments at all levels.
* Lecturers  oppression of Students and their leaders
* Lack of transportation policy tor easy movement at students on campuses.
* Sexual exploitation  of Female students for grades.
* Corruption by management 0f Tertiary Institutions amongst many other issues raised. 

We also demanded for immediate conveyance of ASUU and FG meeting which was put off by ASUU on 22nd December, 2018 after they staged a walkout and address a world press Conference.
Consequent upon our (NANS) meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari. he directed TETFUND to release Funds to Tertiary Institutions and further instructed the Federal Ministry of Education and Labour to immediately resume negotiation With ASUU, This brought about the meeting with ASUU yesterday, 7th January, 2019 at the Federal Ministry 0f Labour where for the first time ASUU and FG reached a compromise."
