UNN Student Vacation Job: SUG Officials tops list as Students Complains Of Unfairness while Lambasting the Scheme
On the Joyous lips of Many students of the Prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka as of The First week of August 2018, was that Of the Annual ‘Student vacation Job' ably attracted By the Student Union Government and Publicized at the school website.
But as Of 13th August, When the result of the Job interview was Released the reverse was the case, as Every student both those who applied and went for the interview and those who applied but couldn’t go for the interview because of Exams or any other unforeseen Circumstances not excluding those who didn’t apply at all lambaste the Scheme, The process & those involved and The Student Union Government who prides itself as the Enticer of the scheme.
According to Vocabulary.com Dictionary ‘unfairness’ can be defined as what results when a situation isn’t equal or just. A teacher giving good grades to his favourite students is one example of unfairness.
When someone doesn’t have to follow the rules, that’s unfairness. You might accuse your parents of unfairness if they give your brother a larger allowance even though you do more chores . unfairness can a lot be called Injustice or Inequality.
Bill O'reilly states that ‘Jobs that cannot be delivered must never be promised. Its unfair to raise peoples hopes that way.’
Students have reacted to the recent vacation job list released
by The university administration. Most of the reactions which have trailed the list comes in a negative light as the reply trooping in from various social media depicts.

Dropping Soon: Interview with UNN Education Students Association President |
Most of the students who reacted to the list points out the defaults of the list as they pray that the Vacation job Scheme should be scrapped as it is a scam, Hence SUG should stop Parading the scheme as one of its achievement so far! as against the broadcast and much Noise made about it by them.
The point raised by these concerned Lion and Lioness includes but Not limited to;
1. That the list released should be termed a list of ‘unqualified Connection Used Professors children’ alleging that the staffs who were in charge of this schedule are all corrupt.
2. That those without money or connection even with CGPA of 5.0 Could not have gotten it.
3. That some student who didn’t attend interviews, staying comfortably in their comfort zone made the list.
4. That some high profiled Individual’s wards and Relations in the Institution who failed woefully during the interview made it in the list.
5. That the SUG officials who have a lot of Responsibilities are being given slot for the vacation job not minding that they are on the payroll of The Student Union Government.
6. That some names appeared without Reg. Number, giving room to Suspicion (Unknown Reasons)
7. That the interview conducted is for formality sake.
Most of the Lion and lionesses who raised this concern Have done this in pursuit of justice and in anger knowing fully well that anger is the Natural reaction to unfairness of loss and have asked the necessary Personnel or parastatal to provide a feedback.
Some of the personnel and parastatal these students pointed out include; The students affairs department , The parliamentary Arms of the Student Union Government (HOR and Senate), The dean of Student affairs and the Exceptional office of the vice chancellor(admin) etc.
Furthermore, the aggrieved students have accused the Student Union Government officials whose name and Reg. Number appeared In the list of GREEDINESS , SELFISHNESS AND BEING CORRUPT! , asking why the preferential Treatment ?. They also demanded to know why one of the name in the list does not have Reg. Number? Or is the name one of the ghost students?.
The Serial Number and Names of The SUG officials in the list include;
42 ABDULLAHI SADIQ 2014/196584 (Sec Gen.)
43 UCHEAGWU SANDRA 2013/186450 (Vice President)
44 UGWUODO EMMANUEL 2015/199500 (Financial Secretary)
45 UGWU KENNETH 2015/203533 (Information Officer)
46 MPAMA STAR 2015/204520 (D.O.G)
47 EZEAKU UDOCHUKWU 2015/203657 (D.O.S)
48 UKWUEZE THANKGOD (Welfare Officer)
49 MICHEAL HANNAH 2015/197103 (Treasurer)
50 EZIGBO UGOCHUKWU 2013/188196 (ASG)
Stating this fact ‘ The rich are getting Richer while the poor are getting poorer’ One is tempted to ask why a professor who can be said to be financial buoyant will still produce or provide names as alleged by some of the students who went for the interview and witnessed it, while students who are struggling to pay up for their tuition fees are neglected and not Considered even as they dressed Well and not failing any of the question ! Some with the intention of using the Scheme money to pay for their next session tuition fees.
Some of the students who reacted via WhatsApp Media and Facebook pages has stated that The SUG stand for ‘Staff Union government’ which could be the reason why students Program , proudly attracted by the Student Union Administration is heavily Influenced by Staffs of the university.
In conclusion, Most of the students views this List as “PROFESSORS SONS & DAUGHTER’S VACATION JOB LIST” , “CONNECTION VACATION JOB LIST” etc. have Pleaded with the SUG House of Representative who adopts ‘militant but Rational' as its motto, to immediately look into this matter and produce a memo or brief stating their stand on the issue.
Also are they tasking the President of the Student Union who came into power with the mandate of ‘Restoring the aluta integrity' to brief the battalions of armless students under his control why this much anticipated Scheme ably attracted by his administration was hijacked and failed ‘Woefully'.
Finally, what is good for the goose is also good for the Gander, Knowing fully well that the End justify the means. It is pertinent to note that more than Three thousand Five hundred(3500) who applied for the job cannot get it as there is a limited space or resources, but this students! this Bold lion and lioness who believe in dignity of labour who applied for this job can be Happy, Elated, cheerful and contented as they couldn’t make it to the list, if only they can know the authenticity and the integrity of the process and or procedure that brought or landed those names on the list.

*CORRUPT STAFFS IN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA*
It is read as "List of *Successful candidates* for the 2018 Student's vacation" but in it real sense it is "List of *unqualified connection used Professor's* children". It's so sad that we are agitating the removal of Buhari from seat because "he is corrupt" but the staffs that were in charge of this vacation job are all corrupt. With no sense of humour, they are regarded as nuisance to our generation to come. They stupidly called for Interview knowing fully well that 95% of those that didn't give them money or those that didn't have "connections" will never get it even if their CGPA is 5.0. We are now in the era where a student will be in his comfort zone chatting on WhatsApp, playing games and still comfortably see his name on their so-called list. One of the students who got in a discussion with a professor son revealed that the boy didn't answer any question correctly and to his surprise his name was written boldly on the list. Yet they say the president is corrupt.
It's so funny how SUG officials who have a lot of thinking, planning on how well the students needs will be met in the coming session still find a slot in this vacation job. It's funny how a secondary school student with no Registration number will work when such student is supposed to be in Summer lesson learning in preparation for the next session.
My advice for those who still believes in "keep trying syndrome " without connection to back up in this country is that you should wake up and do something useful with your life instead of running around for interviews that has already found "unworthy" employees. Create your own world and be better. Do something that affects lives and you'll earn big with a fulfilled life.
Remember his Highness Rancho Chanchad will always say "Follow excellence and success will chase you"

*UNN STAFF CHILDREN'S JOB*
To restore the dignity of man indeed, saying this can never be achieved would only be an understatement. The system is corrupt, yet our supposed mentors champion the course, we are being striped of our dignity and being traded for personal gains.
The den has been desecrated, injustice is at its peak, yet we choose to keep calm because of threats of not graduating. Lions are tamed to become lambs. Our rights are violated, but we can't make a sound else we risk having extra years
UNN advertizes for students' vacation jobs for the summer holidays, with enthusiasm we apply for the job hoping to see a means to raise our fees for the next session, to alleviate the burden for our parents whose income can barely take care of our siblings at home.
We attend the interview session, under unfriendly conditions, we are forced to stay on queues for hours under the scorching Nsukka sun. The hassles during the wait could make anyone disorganized, but we have to pull through, we are lions and lionesses, built for tough.
We recite all we read for the interview, Our turn finally arrives, we meet the interviewer trying to keep our composure and hoping to unleash our entire arsenal in the arena, We get asked obscure questions, but we manage to pull through, we answer all correctly.
With our heads held high we leave the venue, knowing fully well we did our best, we decide to leave the rest for the creator. Days of anxious wait for the list pass, we can't imagine going back home to face the sorrowful faces the country has made out of our various families. The only little way we can assist is to get the students' vacation job.
Finally the list of successful candidates come, we struggle to use the school wi-fi to download it, a successful download opens doors for a futile search. We scramble through the names and can't seem to find ours. Questions start flying in our heads, "but i answered all questions correctly", we check for our colleagues and can't seem to find theirs too. We are perplexed.
Only to discover it was "UNN staff children's job" we applied for, there's no possible way we are getting it. The list is approximately occupied by the Proffesors and members of staff kids, with no place for the children of nobodies like our parents. With tears in our eyes we can't seem to comprehend. Our hopes are chattered, it dawns on us that we actually wasted our time.
The students vacation job is aimed at assisting student's whose family finds it hard to make ends meet, but it ends up being hijacked by the well to do proffesors who are supposed to be our role models. We are heart broken and helpless.
This is inhumane, a professor earns a huge income and can comfortably take care of all his/her kindred, yet our slots are ripped for their children. A case of robbing the poor to feed the rich. Power corrupts indeed, but the powerless feels the impact of corruption. We can't fight it because we are without a voice, no one will fight our course.
With low-spirits we are forced to pack our luggage and join the next bus home, we must find another means to raise our fees. God will ever remain a fair judge. We bid our colleagues farewell as embark on a journey of no assurance. We must survive and God in his infinite mercies would provide.
The question is
Where is justice?
Will the dignity of man ever be restored?
Will Nigeria ever be great again?
*The voice of the voiceless*
*The voice of courage*
*The voice of hope*
*We are Lions and lionesses*

Another Reaction:
“It's quite bad... In my own very eye, when they were interviewing me, a staff brought names of 5 of his canditates, telling the people that are interviewing me to see, the name in case even if they didn't answer well that they should give them 100/100.
At that point I gave up.”
Another Reaction:
“ Lol, the job was primarily meant to keep the staff kids busy. So don't complain toooo much”

That vacation job was a scam. An insult to injury to those of us that don't have somebody in the university to speak for us. There is God anyway!
